Daniel Mack 58ceb57ec1 ASoC: pxa: pxa-pcm-lib: switch over to snd-soc-dmaengine-pcm
This patch removes the old PXA DMA API usage and switches over to
generic functions provided by snd-soc-dmaengine-pcm.

More cleanups may be done on top of this, and some function stubs can
now be removed completetly. However, the intention here was to keep
the transition as small as possible.

This was tested on the mioa701 pxa27x board.

Daniel Mack 6356437e65 spi: spi-pxa2xx: remove legacy PXA DMA bits
Generic DMA support was already implemented by commit cd7bed0034
("spi/pxa2xx: break out the private DMA API usage into a separate file")
which moved all the legacy PXA DMA implementation code into its own
file.

With generic DMA available for PXA, we can now just trash this file.

Daniel Mack 0da0e22747 ARM: pxa3xx: provide specific platform_devices for all ssp ports
Currently, devices for SSP ports 1, 2 and 3 are registered as compatible
devices to pxa27x-ssp. While the actual IP core is comparable, there are
some subtle differences which users of the SSP ports address by looking at
the 'type' field.

By registering devices of type 'pxa27x-ssp', this 'type' field is
incorrectly set to PXA27x_SSP which confuses the users.

To fix this, provide specific ssp port plaform devices which use
'pxa3xx-ssp' as driver name, an instantiate them from pxa3xx.c.

Daniel Mack c2b32e580c net: ethernet: cpsw: improve interrupt lookup logic in cpsw_probe()
Simplify the interrupt resource lookup code in cpsw_probe() by the
following:

 * Only look at the first member of the resource. As the driver only
works for DT-enabled platforms anyway, a resource of type
IORESOURCE_IRQ will only contain one single entry
(res->start == res->end), so there is no need for the iteration.

 * Add a bounds check to avoid overflows if we are passed more than
   ARRAY_SIZE(priv->irqs_table) resources.

 * Assign 'ret' with the return value of devm_request_irq() so that
cpsw_probe() returns the appropriate error code.

 * If devm_request_irq() fails, report the error code in the log
   message.

Daniel Mack 9bb87f1689 usb: gadget: f_uac2: send reasonably sized packets
The UAC2 function driver currently responds to all packets at all times
with wMaxPacketSize packets. That results in way too fast audio
playback as the function driver (which is in fact supposed to define
the audio stream pace) delivers as fast as it can.

Fix this by sizing each packet correctly with the following steps:

 a) Set the packet's size by dividing the nominal data rate by the
    playback endpoint's interval.

 b) If there is a residual value from the calculation in a), add
it to a accumulator to keep track of it across packets.

 c) If the accumulator has gathered at least the number of bytes
that are needed for one sample frame, increase the packet size.

This way, the packet size calculation will get rid of any kind of
imprecision that would otherwise occur with a simple division over
time.

Some of the variables that are needed while processing each packet
are pre-computed for performance reasons.

Daniel Mack ec9e43138f usb: gadget: f_uac2: handle partial dma area wrap
With packet sizes other than 512, payloads in the packets may wrap
around the ALSA dma buffer partially, which leads to memory corruption
and audible clicks and pops in the audio stream at the moment, because
there is no boundary check before the memcpy().

In preparation to an implementation for smaller and dynamically sized
packets, we have to address such cases, and copy the payload in two
steps conditionally.

The 'src' and 'dst' approach doesn't work here anymore, as different
behavior is necessary in playback and capture cases. Thus, this patch
open-codes the routine now.

Daniel Mack 128bb95deb Input: add driver for Microchip's CAP1106
This patch adds a driver for Microchips CAP1106, an I2C driven, 6-channel
capacitive touch sensor.

For now, only the capacitive buttons are supported, and no specific
settings that can be tweaked for individual channels, except for the
device-wide sensitivity gain. The defaults seem to work just fine out of
the box, so I'll leave configurable parameters for someone who's in need
of them and who can actually measure the impact. All registers are
prepared, however. Many of them are just not used for now.

The implementation does not make any attempt to be compatible to platform
data driven boards, but fully depends on CONFIG_OF.

Power management functions are also left for volounteers with the ability

Daniel Mack 13bbfb5c4e dma: cppi41: handle 0-length packets
When a 0-length packet is received on the bus, desc->pd0 yields 1,
which confuses the driver's users. This information is clearly wrong
and not in accordance to the datasheet, but it's been observed on an

Fix this by looking at bit 19 in PD2 of the completed packet. This bit
will tell us if a zero-length packet was received on a queue. If it's

Daniel Mack 50aea6fca7 usb: musb: cppi41: fire hrtimer according to programmed channel length
The musb/cppi41 code installs a hrtimer to work around DMA completion
interrupts that have fired too early on AM335x hardware. This timer
is currently programmed to first fire 140 microseconds after the DMA
completion callback. According to the commit which introduced it
(a655f481d8, "usb: musb: musb_cppi41: handle pre-mature TX complete
interrupt"), that value is is considered a 'rule of thumb' that worked
well with the test case described in the commit log.

Test show, however, that for USB audio devices and much smaller packet
sizes, the timer has to fire earlier in order to correctly handle the audio
stream. The original test case had output transfer sizes of 1514 bytes, and
a delay of 140 microseconds. For audio devices with 24 bytes channel size, 3
microseconds seem to work well.

Hence, let's assume that the time it takes to clear the bit correlates with
the number of bytes transferred. The referenced commit log mentions such a
suspicion as well. Let the timer fire in cppi41_channel->total_len/10
microseconds to correctly handle both cases.

Also, shorten the interval in which the timer fires again in case of
a non-empty early_tx list.

With these changes in place, both FS and HS audio devices appear to work
well on AM335x hardware.

Daniel Mack eefae89e00 Revert "usb: musb: musb_cppi41: Handle ISOCH differently and not use the hrtimer."
This reverts commit 1af54b7a4.

The commit tried to address cases in which isochronous transfers are 'not
reliable', most probably in the tests conducted, polling for the
MUSB_TXCSR_TXPKTRDY bit in MUSB_TXCSR is done too late.

Hence, it installs a work struct which basically busy-polls for the bit in a
rather agressive way by rescheduling the work if the FIFO is not empty. With
USB audio devices, tests have shown that it takes approximately 100
iterations of the asynchronous worker until the FIFO signals completion,
which leads to 100% CPU loads when streaming audio.

The issue the patch tried to address can be handled differently, which is
what the next patch does.

Daniel Mack ff3fcac949 usb: musb: introduce dma_channel.rx_packet_done
The musb/cppi41 glue layer is capable of handling transactions that span
over more than one USB packet by reloading the DMA descriptors
partially. An urb is considered completed when either its transfer
buffer has been filled entirely (actual_length ==
transfer_buffer_length) or if a packet in the stream has less bytes than
the endpoint's wMaxPacketSize.

Once one of the above conditions is met, musb_dma_completion() is called
from cppi41_trans_done(). However, the final decision whether or not to
return the urb to its owner is made by the core and its determination of
the variable 'done' in musb_host_rx(). This code has currently no way of
knowing what the size of the last packet was, and whether or not to
give back the urb due to a short read.

Fix this by introducing a new boolean flag in 'struct dma_channel', and
set it from musb_cppi41.c. If set, it will make the core do what the
DMA layer decided and complete the urb.

Daniel Mack c03da38d5d usb: musb: use is_host_active() to distinguish between host and gadget mode
On AM33xx platforms, unplugging a device in the middle of an active
transfer leads to a drop of MUSB_DEVCTL_HM in MUSB_DEVCTL before the
system is informed about a disconnect. This consequently makes the musb
core call the gadget code to handle the interrupt request, which then
crashes the kernel because the relevant pointers haven't been set up
for gadget mode.

To fix this, use is_host_active() rather than (devctl & MUSB_DEVCTL_HM)
in musb_interrupt() and musb_dma_completion() to detect whether the
controller is in host or peripheral mode. This information is provided
by the driver logic and does not rely on register contents.

Daniel Mack 13a56b4493 net: phy: at803x: Add support for hardware reset
The AT8030 will enter a FIFO error mode if a packet is transmitted while
the cable is unplugged. This hardware issue is acknowledged by the
vendor, and the only proposed solution is to conduct a hardware reset
via the external pin each time the link goes down. There is apparantly
no way to fix up the state via the register set.

This patch adds support for reading a 'reset-gpios' property from the DT
node of the PHY. If present, this gpio is used to apply a hardware reset
each time a 'link down' condition is detected. All relevant registers
are read out before, and written back after the reset cycle.

Doing this every time the link goes down might seem like overkill, but
there is unfortunately no way of figuring out whether the PHY is in
such a lock-up state. Hence, this is the only way of reliably fixing up
things.

Daniel Mack 0fca91b8a4 usb: musb: dsps: move debugfs_remove_recursive()
When the platform initialization fails due to missing resources, it will
return -EPROBE_DEFER after dsps_musb_init() has been called.

dsps_musb_init() calls dsps_musb_dbg_init() to allocate the debugfs
nodes. At a later point in time, the probe will be retried, and
dsps_musb_dbg_init() will be called again. debugfs_create_dir() will
fail this time, as the node already exists, and so the entire device
probe will fail with -ENOMEM.

Fix this by moving debugfs_remove_recursive() from dsps_remove() to the
plaform's exit function, so it will be cleanly torn down when the probe
fails. It also feels more natural this way, as .exit is the counterpart
to .init.

Daniel Mack 8ed1fb790e usb: musb: finish suspend/reset work independently from musb_hub_control()
Currently, resume and reset is completed when the USB core calls back
the root hub, asking for the port's state. This results in
unpredictable timing of state assertion, which in turn renders some
USB devices unusable after resume.

Fix this by moving the logic to end the reset and suspend state out of
musb_hub_control() into separate functions called from delayed workers.
GetPortStatus only reports the current state now, without taking any
real action.

The rh_timeout variable is kept in order to define a minimum time gap
between reset and resume only.

Daniel Mack 6229ed1f22 net: phy: at803x: add suspend/resume callbacks
When WOL is enabled, the chip can't be put into power-down (BMCR_PDOWN)
mode, as that will also switch off the MAC, which consequently leads to
a link loss.

Use BMCR_ISOLATE in that case, which will at least save us some
milliamperes in comparison to normal operation mode.

This patch cleans up the allocation and error unwind paths, which
allows us to carry less information in struct cpsw_priv and reduce the
amount of jump labels in the probe functions.
