Some of the key differences between SD8897 and older chipsets
are as follows:
a) sdio mpa_rx and mpa_tx ports have been increased from 16 to 32
b) Same is the case with read/write bitmap that one receives from
mpa_reg read
c) aggregation packet count doubled from 8 to 16
d) Most of key reg addresses are changed
e) There is a separate command or control port
f) Now command rx/tx_done have new interrupts
1. 'supports_sdio_new_mode' flag is added to handle (a) and (b).
2. (c) and (d) are taken care of by filling chip specific
information in global structurei (mwifiex_sdio_sd8897).
3. For older chipsets, port 0 was cmd port and port 1->15 were
data port. Therefore we had CTRL_PORT_MASK to differentiate
port type. Now these changes are under 'has_control_mask' flag.

Currently, command path waits till all the tx host queues
are empty. Whenever watchdog event is raised, firmware
expects driver to destroy ampdu queues immediately.
This requires corresponding commands i.e.
mwl8k_cmd_get_watchdog_bitmap and mwl8k_destroy_ba to be
sent without waiting for the tx queues to be completely
empty.
Use "watchdog_event_pending" to ensure the above mentioned

The firmware supports 8 macid's corresponding to 8 BSS that can be
created in an MBSS environment. Currently, BASTREAM commands were always
sent with macid 0. This macid is used to configure the hardware ampdu
registers with appropriate BSS address in an MBSS environment.
This mac address is used by the hardware for various ampdu related requirements
e.g. source address in BAR generation, BA interpretation e.t.c.
Using invalid macid results in this mac address not getting appropriately
configured in the hardware which results in issues during ampdu traffic.

When a station leaves suddenly while ampdu traffic to that station is still
running, there is a possibility that the ampdu pending queues are not freed due
to a race condition leading to memory leaks. In '__sta_info_destroy' when we
attempt to destroy the ampdu sessions in 'ieee80211_sta_tear_down_BA_sessions',
the driver calls 'ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_cb_irqsafe' to delete the ampdu
structures (tid_tx) and splice the pending queues and this job gets queued in
sdata workqueue. However, the sta entry can get destroyed before the above work
gets scheduled and hence the race.
Purging the queues and freeing the tid_tx to avoid the leak. The better solution
would be to fix the race, but that can be taken up in a separate patch.

aligned with 4-byte boundary on some embedded platforms.
Had it not been the presence of tx_pkt_offset field in txpd, 4 byte
memory alignment was not possible without memmove of entire skb.
And that would have increased MIPS instead of reducing.
With this patch few memory cycles can be saved while fetching

All MSDUs, except the last one in an AMSDU, should end up at 4
bytes boundary. There is need to check if enough skb_tailroom
space exists before padding the skb.
Also re-arranging code for better readablity.

The check of skb list empty before calling skb_peek and skb_dequeue is
redundant. These functions returns NULL if the list is empty.

Instead of counting the number of packets in txq
for particular RA list before AMSDU creation,
maintain a counter which will keep track of the
same.
This will reduce some MIPS while generating AMSDU
traffic as we only have to check the counter instead
of traversing through skb list.

While decoding received event packet from firmware, 4 bytes
of interface header are already removed unconditionally.
So for handling event only 4 more bytes needs to be pulled.
This is achieved by changing event header length to 4.
Almost all the events, except BA stream related and AMSDU
aggregation control events, do not have the payload in their
event skb. Such events handling depends only on the event ID.
This event ID is the first four bytes of the event skb, which
is copied to a separate variable before pulling the skb header.
Hence event handling worked only for those events that didn't
have payload in event skb.
This patch fixes the broken event path of the events with
payload in their event skb without harming existing working
event path for the events without payload.

mwifiex was using its own implementation of converting 802.11n
AMSDU to 802.3s. This patch removes mwifiex specific
implementation and uses existing ieee80211_amsdu_to_8023s

Currently the devices that have already stripped IEEE 802.11
header from the AMSDU SKB can not use ieee80211_amsdu_to_8023s
routine. This patch enhances ieee80211_amsdu_to_8023s() API by
changing mandatory removing of IEEE 802.11 header from AMSDU
to optional.

Since firmware is capable of generating IV's for all crypto
suits (TKIP, CCMP and WEP), do not ask mac80211 to generate
IV when HW crypto is being used. Instead only reserve
appropriate space in tx skb's in the driver, so that the
firmware can write IV's values.

The tx_headroom required for mwl8k driver is 32 bytes and it
can use the space for 802.11 header received from mac80211.
mwl8k considers the smallest 802.11 frame (CTS2self of 10
bytes) that can be received from mac80211 to compute the
extra_tx_headroom as 22 (32 - 10) bytes.
When the wireless interface is part of bridge, this
extra_tx_headroom requirement results in a memcpy in
mac80211 (in function pskb_expand_head) for all the data
frames needing L2 forwarding/bridging, when NET_SKB_PAD is
defined as 32. This patch reduces the extra_tx_headroom by
8 bytes so that memcpy of data frames in mac80211 is
avoided in this case.
The resize will be required in driver for frames with 802.11
header size of less than 18 bytes.

In xmit path, devices that do full hardware crypto (including
TKIP MMIC) need no tailroom. For such devices, tailroom
reservation can be skipped if all the keys are programmed into
the hardware (i.e software crypto is not used for any of the
keys) and none of the keys wants software to generate Michael
MIC.
