After introducing "samples" to the calculation of wait time, the
driver might timeout at the regmap_field_read_poll_timeout call,
because the wait time could be longer than the 100000 usec limit
due to a large "samples" number.
So this patch sets the timeout limit to 2 times of the wait time
in order to fix this issue.

The SDHCI controller on Tegra186 supports 40-bit addressing, which is
usually enough to address all of system memory. However, if the SDHCI
controller is behind an IOMMU, the address space can go beyond. This
happens on Tegra186 and later where the ARM SMMU has an input address
space of 48 bits. If the DMA API is backed by this ARM SMMU, the top-
down IOVA allocator will cause IOV addresses to be returned that the
SDHCI controller cannot access.
Unfortunately, prior to the introduction of the ->set_dma_mask() host
operation, the SDHCI core would set either a 64-bit DMA mask if the
controller claimed to support 64-bit addressing, or a 32-bit DMA mask
otherwise.
Since the full 64 bits cannot be addressed on Tegra, this had to be
worked around in commit 68481a7e1c ("mmc: tegra: Mark 64 bit dma
broken on Tegra186") by setting the SDHCI_QUIRK2_BROKEN_64_BIT_DMA
quirk, which effectively restricts the DMA mask to 32 bits.
One disadvantage of this is that dma_map_*() APIs will now try to use
the swiotlb to bounce DMA to addresses beyond of the controller's DMA
mask. This in turn caused degraded performance and can lead to
situations where the swiotlb buffer is exhausted, which in turn leads
to DMA transfers to fail.
With the recent introduction of the ->set_dma_mask() host operation,
this can now be properly fixed. For each generation of Tegra, the exact
supported DMA mask can be configured. This kills two birds with one
stone: it avoids the use of bounce buffers because system memory never
exceeds the addressable memory range of the SDHCI controllers on these
devices, and at the same time when an IOMMU is involved, it prevents
IOV addresses from being allocated beyond the addressible range of the
controllers.
Since the DMA mask is now properly handled, the 64-bit DMA quirk can be
removed.

the dma-direct (and other places in the future), however it breaks QEMU

That's because x86_64 defconfig has CONFIG_DMA_CMA=n so those two newly

The addresses within a single page are always contiguous, so it's
not so necessary to always allocate one single page from CMA area.
Since the CMA area has a limited predefined size of space, it may
run out of space in heavy use cases, where there might be quite a
lot CMA pages being allocated for single pages.
However, there is also a concern that a device might care where a
page comes from -- it might expect the page from CMA area and act
differently if the page doesn't.
This patch tries to use the fallback alloc_pages path, instead of
one-page size allocations from the global CMA area in case that a
device does not have its own CMA area. This'd save resources from
the CMA global area for more CMA allocations, and also reduce CMA
fragmentations resulted from trivial allocations.

Both dma_alloc_from_contiguous() and dma_release_from_contiguous() are
very simply implemented, but requiring callers to pass certain
parameters like count and align, and taking a boolean parameter to check
__GFP_NOWARN in the allocation flags. So every function call duplicates
similar work:
unsigned long order = get_order(size);
size_t count = size >> PAGE_SHIFT;
page = dma_alloc_from_contiguous(dev, count, order,
gfp & __GFP_NOWARN);
[...]
dma_release_from_contiguous(dev, page, size >> PAGE_SHIFT);
Additionally, as CMA can be used only in the context which permits
sleeping, most of callers do a gfpflags_allow_blocking() check and a
corresponding fallback allocation of normal pages upon any false result:
if (gfpflags_allow_blocking(flag))
page = dma_alloc_from_contiguous();
if (!page)
page = alloc_pages();
[...]
if (!dma_release_from_contiguous(dev, page, count))
__free_pages(page, get_order(size));
So this patch simplifies those function calls by abstracting these
operations into the two new functions: dma_{alloc,free}_contiguous.
As some callers of dma_{alloc,release}_from_contiguous() might be
complicated, this patch just implements these two new functions to
kernel/dma/direct.c only as an initial step.

If all three channels are disabled via in[123]_enable ABI,
the driver could suspend the chip for power saving purpose.
So this patch adds the PM runtime support in order to gain
more power control than system suspend and resume use case.
For PM runtime, there are a few related changes happening:
1) Added a new pm_dev device pointer for all the PM runtime
callbacks. This is because hwmon core registers a child
device for each hwmon driver and passes it back to each
driver. So there might be a mismatch between two device
pointers in the driver if mixing using them.
2) Added a check in ina3221_is_enabled() to make sure that
the chip is resumed.
3) Bypassed the unchanged status in ina3221_write_enable()
in order to keep the PM runtime refcount being matched.
4) Removed the reset routine in the probe() by calling the
resume() via pm_runtime_get_sync() instead, as they're

The data might need some time to get ready after channel enabling,
although the data register is always readable. The CVRF bit is to
indicate that data conversion is finished, so polling the CVRF bit
before data reading could ensure the result being valid.
An alternative way could be to wait for expected time between the
channel enabling and the data reading. And this could avoid extra
I2C communications. However, INA3221 seemly takes longer time than
what's stated in the datasheet. Test results show that sometimes
it couldn't finish data conversion in time.

When using DT configurations, the id pointer might turn out to
be NULL. Then the driver encounters NULL pointer access:
Unable to handle kernel read from unreadable memory at vaddr 00000018
[...]

LR is at ina2xx_probe+0x10c/0x200
[...]
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x0000000b
The reason is that i2c core returns the id pointer by matching
id_table with client->name, while the client->name is actually
using the name from the first string in the DT compatible list,
not the best one. So i2c core would fail to match the id_table
if the best matched compatible string isn't the first one, and
then would return a NULL id pointer.
This probably should be fixed in i2c core. But it doesn't hurt
to make the driver robust. So this patch fixes it by using the
"chip" that's added to unify both DT and non-DT configurations.
Additionally, since id pointer could be null, so as id->name:
ina2xx 10-0047: power monitor (null) (Rshunt = 1000 uOhm)
ina2xx 10-0048: power monitor (null) (Rshunt = 10000 uOhm)

at test cases when switching between mono and stereo audio.
The problem is that ssi->i2s_net is initialized in set_dai_fmt()
only, while this set_dai_fmt() is only called during the dai-link
probe(). The original patch assumed set_dai_fmt() would be called
during every playback instance, so it failed at the overriding use
cases.
This patch adds the local variable i2s_net back to let regular use
cases still follow the mode settings from the set_dai_fmt().
Meanwhile, the original commit of keeping ssi->i2s_net updated was
to make set_tdm_slot() clean by checking the ssi->i2s_net directly
instead of reading SCR register. However, the change itself is not
necessary (or even harmful) because the set_tdm_slot() might fail
to check the slot number for Normal-Mode-None-Net settings while
mono audio cases still need 2 slots. So this patch can also fix it.
And it adds an extra line of comments to declare ssi->i2s_net does
not reflect the register value but merely the initial setting from
the set_dai_fmt().

The trigger() calls fsl_ssi_tx_config() and fsl_ssi_rx_config(),
and both of them jump to fsl_ssi_config(). And fsl_ssi_config()
later calls another fsl_ssi_rxtx_config().
However, the whole routine, especially fsl_ssi_config() function,
is too complicated because of the folowing reasons:
1) It has to handle the concern of the opposite stream.
2) It has to handle cases of offline configurations support.
3) It has to handle enable and disable operations while they're
mostly different.
Since the enable and disable routines have more differences than
TX and RX rountines, this patch simplifies these helper functions
with the following changes:
- Changing to two helper functions of enable and disable instead
of TX and RX.
- Removing fsl_ssi_rxtx_config() by separately integrating it to
two newly introduced enable & disable functions.

The define of fsl_ssi_disable_val is not so clear as it mixes two
steps of calculations together. And those parameter names are also
a bit long to read.
Since it just tries to exclude the shared bits from the regvals of
current stream while the opposite stream is active, it's better to
use something like ssi_excl_shared_bits.
This patch also bisects fsl_ssi_disable_val into two macros of two
corresponding steps and then shortens its parameter names. It also

The machine driver links both imx-ssi (legacy non-DT driver) and
fsl_ssi (up-to-date DT based driver). So It also includes both
imx-ssi.h and fsl_ssi.h header files. This creates a limitation
for two header files -- they can't define anything with identical
names.
Since the eukrea-tlv320 machine driver now does not really need
anything being defined in the fsl_ssi header file, and it's also
going to take some time to clean up two SSI drivers, this patch

The set_sysclk() now is used to override the output bit clock rate.
But this is not a common way to implement a set_dai_sysclk(). And
this creates a problem when a general machine driver (simple-card
for example) tries to do set_dai_sysclk() by passing an input clock
rate for the baud clock instead of setting the bit clock rate as
fsl_ssi driver expected.
So this patch solves this problem by firstly removing set_sysclk()
since the hw_params() can calculate the bit clock rate. Secondly,
in order not to break those TDM use cases which previously might
have been using set_sysclk() to override the bit clock rate, this
patch changes the driver to calculate the bit clock rate using the
slot number and the slot width from the via set_tdm_slot().

According to i.MX6 Series Reference Manual, the formula to calculate
the sys clock is
sysclk rate = bclk rate * (div2 + 1) * (7 * psr + 1) * (pm + 1) * 2
Commit aafa85e71a ("ASoC: fsl_ssi: Add DAI master mode support for
SSI on i.MX series") added the divisor calculation which relies on
the clk_round_rate(). However, at that time, clk_round_rate() didn't
provide closest clock rates for some cases because it might not use
a correct rounding policy. So using the original formula (pm + 1) for
PM divisor was not able to give us a desired clock rate. And then we
used (pm + 2) to do the trick.
However, the clk-divider driver has been refined a lot since commit
b11d282dbe ("clk: divider: fix rate calculation for fractional rates")
Now using (pm + 2) trick would result an incorrect clock rate.
So this patch fixes the problem by removing the useless trick.

By looking at 2744 line, we can get that it's because regcache_rbtree_write()
would call kmalloc() with GFP flag if it couldn't find an existing block to
insert nodes while this kmalloc() call is inside a spin_lock_irq_save pair,
i.e. IRQs disabled.
Even though this may be a bug that should be fixed, I still try to send this
patch as a quick fix (work around) since it does no harm to assign default
values of every registers when using regcache.
