Jarkko Nikula fd4b204a09 i2c: i801: Bring back Block Process Call support for certain platforms
Commit b84398d6d7 ("i2c: i801: Use iTCO version 6 in Cannon Lake PCH
and beyond") looks like to drop by accident Block Write-Block Read Process
Call support for Intel Sunrisepoint, Lewisburg, Denverton and Kaby Lake.

That support was added for above and newer platforms by the commit
315cd67c94 ("i2c: i801: Add Block Write-Block Read Process Call
support") so bring it back for above platforms.

Jarkko Nikula 57b3006492 ACPI / LPSS: Save/restore LPSS private registers also on Lynxpoint
My assumption in commit b53548f9d9 ("spi: pxa2xx: Remove LPSS private
register restoring during resume") that Intel Lynxpoint and compatible
based chipsets may not need LPSS private registers saving and restoring
over suspend/resume cycle turned out to be false on Intel Broadwell.

Curtis Malainey sent a patch bringing above change back and reported the
LPSS SPI Chip Select control was lost over suspend/resume cycle on
Broadwell machine.

Instead of reverting above commit lets add LPSS private register
saving/restoring also for all LPSS SPI, I2C and UART controllers on
Lynxpoint and compatible chipset to make sure context is not lost in
case nothing else preserves it like firmware or if LPSS is always on.

Jarkko Nikula 72bfcee11c i2c: Prevent runtime suspend of adapter when Host Notify is required
Multiple users have reported their Synaptics touchpad has stopped
working between v4.20.1 and v4.20.2 when using SMBus interface.

The culprit for this appeared to be commit c5eb119007 ("PCI / PM: Allow
runtime PM without callback functions") that fixed the runtime PM for
i2c-i801 SMBus adapter. Those Synaptics touchpad are using i2c-i801
for SMBus communication and testing showed they are able to get back
working by preventing the runtime suspend of adapter.

Normally when i2c-i801 SMBus adapter transmits with the client it resumes
before operation and autosuspends after.

However, if client requires SMBus Host Notify protocol, what those
Synaptics touchpads do, then the host adapter must not go to runtime
suspend since then it cannot process incoming SMBus Host Notify commands
the client may send.

Fix this by keeping I2C/SMBus adapter active in case client requires
Host Notify.

Jarkko Nikula c5eb119007 PCI / PM: Allow runtime PM without callback functions
a9c8088c79 ("i2c: i801: Don't restore config registers on runtime PM")
nullified the runtime PM suspend/resume callback pointers while keeping the
runtime PM enabled.

This caused the SMBus PCI device to stay in D0 with
/sys/devices/.../power/runtime_status showing "error" when the runtime PM
framework attempted to autosuspend the device. This is due to PCI bus
runtime PM, which checks for driver runtime PM callbacks and returns
-ENOSYS if they are not set.

Since i2c-i801.c doesn't need to do anything device-specific for runtime
PM, Jean Delvare proposed this be fixed in the PCI core rather than adding
dummy runtime PM callback functions in the PCI drivers.

Change pci_pm_runtime_suspend()/pci_pm_runtime_resume() so they allow
changing the PCI device power state during runtime PM transitions even if
the driver supplies no runtime PM callbacks.

This fixes the runtime PM regression on i2c-i801.c.

It is not obvious why the code previously required the runtime PM
callbacks. The test has been there since the code was introduced by
6cbf82148f ("PCI PM: Run-time callbacks for PCI bus type").

On the other hand, a similar change was done to generic runtime PM
callbacks in 05aa55dddb ("PM / Runtime: Lenient generic runtime pm
callbacks").

Jarkko Nikula b53548f9d9 spi: pxa2xx: Remove LPSS private register restoring during resume
Intel LPSS private register restoring in spi-pxa2xx.c: pxa2xx_spi_resume()
was added before there was no any other code restoring them. This was
changed after following commits for previous and current LPSS platforms:

c78b083066 ("ACPI / LPSS: custom power domain for LPSS")
41a3da2b8e ("mfd: intel-lpss: Save register context on suspend")

However there is one caveat: There is no LPSS private register context
save/restore for the Intel Lynxpoint in the Linux kernel code.

I did some debugging on one Lynxpoint based device I have and on it the
LPSS register context is not lost over suspend/resume cycle (s2idle).
Which happens for instance on Intel Braswell. I'm speculating but I guess
either firmware does it or the LPSS is kept always on Lynxpoint.

Given that we haven't needed to implement Lynxpoint LPSS I2C or UART
private register context save/restore over four years time I think we are
safe to remove this LPSS private register restoring during resume here.

Intel Cannon Lake PCH has much higher 216 MHz input clock to LPSS I2C
than Sunrisepoint which uses 120 MHz. Preliminary information was that

This incorrect input clock rate results too high I2C bus clock in case
ACPI doesn't provide tuned I2C timing parameters since I2C host

Fix this by using the correct rate. We still share the same 230 ns SDA

Jarkko Nikula 5ab894aee0 device property: Track owner device of device property
Deletion of subdevice will remove device properties associated to parent
when they share the same firmware node after commit 478573c93a (driver
core: Don't leak secondary fwnode on device removal). This was observed
with a driver adding subdevice that driver wasn't able to read device
properties after rmmod/modprobe cycle.

Consider the lifecycle of it:

parent device registration
	ACPI_COMPANION_SET()
	device_add_properties()
		pset_copy_set()
		set_secondary_fwnode(dev, &p->fwnode)
	device_add()

parent probe
	read device properties
	ACPI_COMPANION_SET(subdevice, ACPI_COMPANION(parent))
	device_add(subdevice)

parent remove
	device_del(subdevice)
		device_remove_properties()
			set_secondary_fwnode(dev, NULL);
			pset_free()

Parent device will have its primary firmware node pointing to an ACPI
node and secondary firmware node point to device properties.

ACPI_COMPANION_SET() call in parent probe will set the subdevice's
firmware node to point to the same 'struct fwnode_handle' and the
associated secondary firmware node, i.e. the device properties as the
parent.

When subdevice is deleted in parent remove that will remove those
device properties and attempt to read device properties in next
parent probe call will fail.

Fix this by tracking the owner device of device properties and delete
them only when owner device is being deleted.

I guess pm_runtime_put_noidle() call in i2c_dw_probe_slave() was copied

unbalanced due missing pm_runtime_get_noresume() but harmless since it
doesn't decrease dev->power.usage_count below zero.

during slave mode adapter registration that was happening when
registering the master mode adapter. See commit cd998ded5c ("i2c:

However, since we are slave, we can consider it as a wrong configuration
if we have other slaves attached under this adapter and can omit the
pm_runtime_get_noresume()/pm_runtime_put_noidle() calls for simplicity.

Jarkko Nikula e4330d8bf6 ACPI / scan: Fix enumeration for special SPI and I2C devices
Commit f406270bf7 ("ACPI / scan: Set the visited flag for all
enumerated devices") caused that two group of special SPI or I2C
devices do not enumerate. SPI and I2C devices are expected to be
enumerated by the SPI and I2C subsystems but change caused that
acpi_bus_attach() marks those devices with acpi_device_set_enumerated().

First group of devices are matched using Device Tree compatible property
with special _HID "PRP0001". Those devices have matched scan handler,
acpi_scan_attach_handler() retuns 1 and acpi_bus_attach() marks them
with acpi_device_set_enumerated().

Second group of devices without valid _HID such as "LNXVIDEO" have
device->pnp.type.platform_id set to zero and change again marks them
with acpi_device_set_enumerated().

Fix this by flagging the SPI and I2C devices during struct acpi_device
object initialization time and let the code in acpi_bus_attach() to go
through the device_attach() and acpi_default_enumeration() path for all
SPI and I2C devices.

Jarkko Nikula a46a763401 dmaengine: dw: Fix data corruption in large device to memory transfers
When transferring more data than the maximum block size supported by the
HW multiplied by source width the transfer is split into smaller chunks.
Currently code calculates the memory width and thus aligment before
splitting for both memory to device and device to memory transfers.

For memory to device transfers this work fine since alignment is preserved
through the splitting and split blocks are still memory width aligned.
However in device to memory transfers aligment breaks when maximum block
size multiplied by register width doesn't have the same alignment than the
buffer. For instance when transferring from an 8-bit register 4100 bytes
(32-bit aligned) on a DW DMA that has maximum block size of 4095 elements.
An attempt to do such transfers caused data corruption.

Fix this by calculating and setting the destination memory width after
splitting by using the split block aligment and length.

Jarkko Nikula 171e23e150 i2c: designware: Avoid aborted transfers with fast reacting I2C slaves
I2C DesignWare may abort transfer with arbitration lost if I2C slave pulls
SDA down quickly after falling edge of SCL. Reason for this is unknown but
after trial and error it was found this can be avoided by enabling non-zero
SDA RX hold time for the receiver.

By the specification SDA RX hold time extends incoming SDA low to high
transition by n * ic_clk cycles but only when SCL is high. However it
seems to help avoid above faulty arbitration lost error.

Bits 23:16 in IC_SDA_HOLD register define the SDA RX hold time for the
receiver. Be conservative and enable 1 ic_clk cycle long hold time in

Fast mode is the default speed of i2c-designware which can be overridden

Thus finding the maximum safe speed for the bus is to walk through all
I2cSerialBus resources that are associated to I2C controller and use the
speed of slowest connection.

Add function i2c_acpi_find_bus_speed() to the i2c-core that adapter
drivers can call prior registering itself to core.

This implies two-step walk through the I2cSerialBus resources: call to
i2c_acpi_find_bus_speed() does the first scan and finds the safe bus
speed that adapter drivers can set up. Adapter driver registration does
the second scan when i2c-core creates the I2C slaves by calling the
i2c_acpi_register_devices(). In that way the bus speed is set in case
slave device probe gets called during registration and does communication.

FIFO overrun is handled in interrupt context and converting

Jarkko Nikula cd998ded5c i2c: designware: Prevent runtime suspend during adapter registration
There can be unnecessary runtime suspend-resume cycle during
i2c-designware-platdrv probe when it registers the I2C adapter device. This
happens because i2c-designware-platdrv is set to initially active platform
device in its probe function and is a parent of I2C adapter.

In that case power.usage_count of i2c-designware device is zero and
pm_runtime_get()/pm_runtime_put() cycle during probe could put it into
runtime suspend. This happens when the i2c_register_adapter() calls the
device_register():

i2c_register_adapter
  device_register
    device_add
      bus_probe_device
        device_initial_probe
          __device_attach
            if (dev->parent) pm_runtime_get_sync(dev->parent)
            ...
            if (dev->parent) pm_runtime_put(dev->parent)

After that the i2c_register_adapter() continues registering I2C slave
devices. In case slave device probe does I2C transfers the parent will
resume again and thus get a needless runtime suspend/resume cycle during
adapter registration.

Prevent this while retaining the runtime PM status of i2c-designware by
only incrementing/decrementing device power usage count during I2C
adapter registration. That makes sure there won't be spurious runtime PM
status changes and lets the driver core to idle the device after probe
finishes.

Jarkko Nikula 7a8d44bc89 spi: pxa2xx: Fix too early chipselect deassert
There is a chance that chipselect is deasserted too early while the last
clock cycle is still running. Protocol analyzers will see this as a failed
last byte. This is more likely to occur with slow bitrates, for instance
at 25 kbps.

Reason for this is when using SPI mode 0 that both SPI host controller and
SPI slave will drive the data lines at the falling edge of clock signal
and sample at the rising edge. Receive FIFO gets the last bit now at the
rising edge and code sees transfer to be finished either by the interrupt
in PIO mode or by the DMA completion in DMA mode.

The SSP Time Out register SSTO should take care of delaying the
completion but it does not seems to have effect at least on Intel
Skylake and Broxton even when using long enough values. Depending on
timing code may get into point where chipselect is deasserted while the
last clock cycle is still running at its second half cycle.

Fix this by adding a wait loop in giveback() that waits until SSP becomes
idle before deasserting the chipselect.

also on platforms that do not support ACPI or if CONFIG_ACPI is not set.
Now it is expected that "pxa2xx-spi" platform device is either created with
explicit platform data or has an ACPI companion device.

However there is only little in pxa2xx_spi_acpi_get_pdata() that is really
dependent on ACPI companion and it can be reworked to cover also cases
where "pxa2xx-spi" device doesn't have ACPI companion and is created
without platform data.

Do this by renaming the pxa2xx_spi_acpi_get_pdata(), moving it outside of
CONFIG_ACPI test and changing a few runtime tests there to support non-ACPI
case. Only port/bus ID setting based on ACPI _UID is dependent on ACPI and
is moved to own function inside CONFIG_ACPI.

Purpose of this to support non-ACPI case for those PCI enumerated compound
devices that integrate both LPSS SPI host controller and integrated DMA
engine under the same PCI ID and which are registered in MFD layer instead
of in spi-pxa2xx-pci.c.

Jarkko Nikula b7c08cf85c spi: pxa2xx: Add support for Intel Broxton
LPSS SPI in Intel Broxton is otherwise the same than in Intel Sunrisepoint
but it supports up to four chip selects per port and has different FIFO
thresholds. Patch adds support for two Broxton SoC variants.

Jarkko Nikula 8b136baa58 spi: pxa2xx: Detect number of enabled Intel LPSS SPI chip select signals
SPI capabilities register located in private registers space of newer
Intel LPSS SPI host controllers tell in register bits 12:9 which chip
select signals are enabled.

Use that information for detecting the number of chip selects. For
simplicity we assume chip selects are enabled one after another without
disabled chip selects between. For instance CS0 | CS1 | CS2 but not
CS0 | CS1 | CS3.

Jarkko Nikula d0283eb2db spi: pxa2xx: Add output control for multiple Intel LPSS chip selects
Intel LPSS SPI host controllers in upcoming Intel platforms can have up
to 4 chip selects per port. Extend chip select control in
lpss_ssp_cs_control() by adding a code that selects the active chip
select output prior to changing the state. Detection for number of
enabled chip select signals will be added by another patch.
