The i40e_suspend() function was failing to save PCI state
and this would result in a kernel stack trace from a WARN_ONCE in the
pci_legacy_suspend() function.
Add a call to pci_save_state() to fix that problem.

The i40e_suspend() function calls another function that preps the device
for the power save and resume by freeing all the Tx/Rx resources and
interrupts but that function does not free the "other" causes interrupt
vector and IRQ. It also fails to call synchronize_irq() before freeing
the IRQ vectors. This sometimes may result in some AER errors on those
systems with that PCIe error reporting feature enabled.
Call synchronize_irq() before freeing IRQ vectors and explicitly free
the other causes interrupt resources and shut down that MSIX interrupt.

If a port VLAN is set for a given virtual function (VF) before the VF
driver is loaded then a configuration error results in which the port
VLAN is ignored when the VF driver is subsequently loaded. This causes
the VF's MAC/VLAN filters to not use the correct VLAN filter. This
patch ensures that the port VLAN filter is considered at the right time
during configuration of the VF's MAC/VLAN filters.

The kernel notifies all VXLAN capable registered drivers, i.e. any
driver that implements ndo_add_vxlan_port(), of the addition of a
port so that the driver can track which ports are in use. There's
no need to log this - it just fills the system log with useless and
irksome noise.
Also, when failing to init SR-IOV interfaces the driver was printing the
same message twice. Just remove the inner printk and let the outer message
catch enable as well as the other failures.

We export three controls:
min_bw - Can take a value from 0 to 100 inclusive
max_bw - Can take a value from 1 to 100 inclusive
commit - A write-only control that accepts only a value of 1 and will
cause the BW settings to be permanently committed to NVM so
that they are persistent across power cycles and system

The BW values are relative and are expressed as percentages. For more
information on the interpretation of the BW settings see the Dell

Virtual Function (VF) driver to configure its own VLAN filters if no port

administrator setting a port VLAN filter for the VF after the VF has already
configured its own VLAN filters. This leads to a conflict that can only be
resolved by reloading the VF driver. When the conflicting administrative

the system administrator that he must now reload the VF driver for the new

Enabling the default port on the VEB causes all outgoing traffic from
virtual functions to be copied to the physical function. The default
port is only supposed to be used if you wish to bridge the physical
function to a SW switch such as Open vSwitch or the Linux bridge. That
allows the SW switch to route traffic to VMs that are not using a
virtual function.
Eventually we'll want to implement the ndo_fdb_add, ndo_fdb_del, and
ndo_fdb_dump functions. The ndo_fdb_add function would set the
default port on the VEB in those cases where the MAC/VLAN address
filters have overflowed. Normally we would not want to use it.

This PCI-E SR-IOV virtual function (VF) driver is dependant upon the
physical function (PF) driver (i40e) for nearly all of its hardware
configuration. Requests from the VF driver are passed to the PF using
the hardware's Admin Queue.
This patch contains the functionality for communicating with the PF
driver. Because of the delay inherent in this communications channel,
most of the replies from the PF driver are handled asynchronously. The
exceptions are the "send API version" and "get VF config" messages,
which busy-wait because they are done so early during init that
interrupts are not yet configured.

The PF driver does not check if the administrator has already set a VF
VLAN via the PF driver before setting the new VLAN. This results in
the following scenario:
A) Administrator sets VF <n> to VLAN 100
B) Administrator sets VF <x> to VLAN 100
C) Administrator sets VF <n> to VLAN 200
D) The VF <n> driver continues to be able to receive traffic on VLAN
100 because the VLVFB pool enable bit for that VF was left set
instead of being cleared as it should be.
This fix ensures that the old VLAN filter for VF <n> is first removed
and the pool bit enable for VF <n> is cleared so that it no longer
receives traffic on VLAN 100.

If the administrator has not assigned a MAC address to the VF via the
PF then handle it gracefully by generating a temporary MAC address.
This ensures that we always know when we have a random address and
udev won't get upset about it.

move some core SR-IOV enablement code that would be common to module
parameter usage or callback from the PCI bus driver to a separate
function so that it can be used by either method.

There is no actual dependency on initialization of the mailbox ops on
whether SR-IOV is enabled or not and it doesn't hurt to go ahead and
initialize ops unconditionally. Move the initialization into the device
probe so that the mailbox ops are initialized at the time we have the
board info necessary to do it.

When the physical function (PF) is reset for any reason the statistics
collection in ixgbevf_update_stats needs to wait to update until after
the reset synchronization ensures that the PF driver is up and running
and is finished with its own reset. Go ahead and clear the link flag to
indicate this when the control message from the PF is received. The
reset synchronization and recovery in the watchdog task will eventually
set the link flag up when the PF has resumed.

The out of tree driver and the in kernel driver should use the same
interrupt handling logic for mailbox interrupts. The difference in
the handlers was causing dissimilar behavior between the two drivers
complicating debug and trouble shooting.

napi_gro_receive shouldn't be called from netpoll context. Doing
so was causing kernel panics when jumbo frames larger than 2K were set.

context or from netpoll context and call netif_rx() if in the polling
context.

instead of the index of the filter. The message processing function was
misinterpreting the index as a non-zero return code indicating failure and
NACKing MAC filter set messages that actually succeeded.

The driver was not setting the number of real Tx queues in the net_device
structure. This caused some serious issues such as Tx hangs and extremely
poor performance with some usages of the driver.
The issue is best observed by running:
iperf -c <host> -P <n>
Where n is greater than one. The greater the value of n the more likely
the problem is to show up.
