Due to the electrical design of the A/DC circuits on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3,
if we are reading analog values as fast as possible (i.e. using DMA to
service the SPI) the A/DC chip will read incorrect values - as much as
0.1V off when the SPI is running at 10MHz. (This has to do with the
capacitor charge time when channels are muxed in the A/DC.)
This patch slows down the SPI as much as possible (if CPU is at 456MHz,
SPI runs at 1/2 of that, so 228MHz and has a max prescalar of 256, so
we could get ~891kHz, but we're just rounding it to 1MHz). We also use
the max allowable value for WDELAY to slow things down even more.
These changes reduce the error of the analog values to about 5mV, which
is tolerable.
Commits a3762b13a5 ("spi: spi-davinci: Add support for SPI_CS_WORD")
and e2540da86e ("iio: adc: ti-ads7950: use SPI_CS_WORD to reduce
CPU usage") introduce changes that allow DMA transfers to be used, so
this slow down is needed now.

This changes how the SPI message for the triggered buffer is setup in
the TI ADS7950 A/DC driver. By using the SPI_CS_WORD flag, we can read
multiple samples in a single SPI transfer. If the SPI controller
supports DMA transfers, we can see a significant reduction in CPU usage.
For example, on an ARM9 system running at 456MHz reading just 4 channels
at 100Hz: before this change, top shows the CPU usage of the IRQ thread
of this driver to be ~7.7%. After this change, the CPU usage drops to
~3.8%.
The use of big-endian for the raw data was cargo culted from another
driver when this driver was originally written. It used an SPI word size
of 8 bits and big-endian byte ordering to effectively emulate 16 bit
words.
Now, in order to inject a CS toggle between each word, we need to use
the correct word size, otherwise we would get a CS toggle half way
through each word 16-bit. The SPI subsystem uses CPU byte ordering for
multi-byte words. So, the data we get back from the SPI is going to be
CPU endian now no matter what. Converting that to big endian will just
add overhead on little endian systems so we opt to change the raw data
format from big endian to CPU endian.
There is a small risk that this could break some lazy userspace programs
that use the raw data without checking the data format. We can address
this if/when it actually comes up.

This adds a default software implementation for the SPI_CS_WORD flag for

This modifies the TI ADS7950 A/DC driver to allow the simultaneous use
of both the triggered buffer and reading channels directly (via in-

The use case for this is on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3. Two of the voltage
channels are used in-kernel by a power supply driver, which reads the
values using iio_read_channel_processed(). These channels are only read
at a slow rate (<= 1Hz). However, we want to be able to read 12 other
channels at the same time using the triggered buffer at a high rate (>=

This fixes setting the clock divider on the TI OMAP-L138 LCDK board.
The clock drivers for OMAP-L138 are being covernted to the common clock
framework. When this happens, clk_set_rate() will no longer return an
error. However, on this SoC, the clock rate cannot actually be changed
because the clock has to maintain a fixed ratio to the ARM clock. So
after attempting to set the clock rate, we need to check to see if the
new rate is actually close enough. If not, then follow the previous
error path to adjust the divider in LCDC IP block to compensate for not
being able to change the parent clock rate.

In da850.dtsi, pinctrl-single,gpio-range is added to the pinmux node
and gpio-ranges is added to the GPIO node. Unfortunately, the way the
pinctrl-single driver enumerates the pins (starting with LSB) causes
them to be in reverse order compared to the way the gpios are assigned.
As a result, we have to declare the mapping for each GPIO individually.
This also lets us remove all of the GPIO pinmuxes from

code from arch/arm/mach-davinci/clock.c to the common clock framework.
Additionally, it adds device tree support for these clocks.
The ifeq ($(CONFIG_COMMON_CLK), y) in the Makefile is needed to prevent
compile errors until the clock code in arch/arm/mach-davinci is removed.
Note: although there are similar clocks for TI Keystone we are not able
to share the code for a few reasons. The keystone clocks are device tree
only and use legacy one-node-per-clock bindings. Also the register
layouts are a bit different, which would add even more if/else mess
to the keystone clocks. And the keystone PLL driver doesn't support
setting clock rates.

This adds a new binding for the PLL IP blocks in the mach-davinci
family of processors. Currently, only da850 has device tree support
but these bindings can also work for other SoCs in this family just
by adding new compatible strings.
Note: Although these PLL controllers are very similar to the TI Keystone
SoCs, we are not re-using those bindings. The Keystone bindings use a
legacy one-node-per-clock binding. Furthermore, the mach-davinici SoCs
have a slightly different PLL register layout and a number of quirks
that can't be handled by the existing bindings, so the keystone bindings
could not be used as-is anyway.

This changes CONFIG_DAVINCI_WATCHDOG from a module to a compiled-in
option. Since the reset function has been moved out of the mach code in
commit 94f2e94514 ("ARM: davinci: remove watchdog reset") and into the
watchdog driver, devices cannot reboot unless the watchdog driver is
loaded, so make it a compiled-in option so that we can always reboot, even
when modules are not loaded.

This adds a new node for reboot modes on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3. The EV3's
bootloader looks for a magic number in the ARM local RAM and if found,
it will boot into a special firmware update mode where the flash memory
can be written via USB.
This has been testing working using the command:
# systemctl reboot loader

This moves the call of davinci_clk_init() from map_io to init_time for all
boards.
This is the proper place to init clocks. This is also done in preparation
for moving to the common clock framework.
dm646x is a special case because we need to handle different ref_clk rates
depending on which board is being used. The clock init in this case is
modified to set the rate before registering the clocks instead of using
davinci_set_refclk_rate() to recalculate the entire clock tree after all
of the clocks are registered.
Also, the cpu_clks field is removed from struct davinci_soc_info since it
is no longer needed.

This removes the watchdog reset code. The reset has been moved to
drivers/watchdog/davinci_wdt.c. The watchdog driver registers the reset
with the kernel so defining a reset for each machine is no longer needed.

This converts from using a platform device for the CFGCHIP syscon
regmap to using platform data to pass the regmap to consumers.
A lazy getter function is used so that the regmap will only be
created if it is actually used. This function will also be used
in the clock init when we convert to the common clock framework.
The USB PHY driver is currently the only consumer. This driver is
updated to use platform data to get the CFGCHIP regmap instead of
syscon_regmap_lookup_by_pdevname().

the matching names in the mach clock registration code.
This is in preparation for using device tree clocks where these names
will become part of the device tree bindings. The new names more closely
match the names used in the USB clock diagram in the SoC TRM.

This changes module_platform_driver_probe() to module_platform_driver()
in the TI DaVinci MMC driver.
On device tree systems, we can get a -EPROBE_DEFER when using a pinmux
for the CD GPIO, which results in the driver never loading because
module_platform_driver_probe() prevents it from being re-probed.
So, we replace module_platform_driver_probe() with
module_platform_driver() and removed the __init attributes accordingly.

Reentrant calls to clk_enable() are not working on UP systems. This is
caused by the fact spin_trylock_irqsave() always returns true when
CONFIG_SMP=n (and CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK=n) which causes the reference
counting to not work correctly when clk_enable_lock() is called twice
before clk_enable_unlock() is called (this happens when clk_enable()
is called from within another clk_enable()).
This fixes the problem by skipping the call to spin_trylock_irqsave() on UP
systems and relying solely on reference counting. We also make sure to set
flags in this case so that we are not returning an uninitialized value.
