We can't be holding the mmap_sem while calling flush_cache_user_range
because the flush can fault. If we fault on a user address, the
page fault handler will try to take mmap_sem again. Since both places
acquire the read lock, most of the time it succeeds. However, if another
thread tries to acquire the write lock on the mmap_sem (e.g. mmap) in
between the call to flush_cache_user_range and the fault, the down_read
in do_page_fault will deadlock.

vma isn't used and flush_cache_user_range isn't a standard macro that
is used on several archs with the same prototype. In fact only unicore32
has a macro with the same name (with an identical implementation and no
in-tree users).
This is a part of a patch proposed by Dima Zavin (with Message-id:

We want to ensure that we get all the console messages, even ones
that occur while the printing CPU is not yet online.

If there is a full packet in the buffer, and we overflow that buffer
right after checking for that condition, it would have been possible
for us to block indefinitely (rather, until the next full packet) even if
the file was marked as O_NONBLOCK.

Without this, it was possible for the reader to get ahead of packet_head.
If the input device generated a partial packet *right* after the reader
got ahead, then we can get into a situation where the device is marked
readable, but read always returns 0 until the next packet is finished
(i.e a SYN is generated by the input driver).
This situation can also happen if we overflow the buffer while a reader
is trying to read an event out.

If the platform data sets the use_otg_notifier flag,
the driver will now register an otg notifier callback and listen
to transceiver events for AC/USB plug-in events instead. This would
normally be used by not specifying is_xx_online callbacks and
not specifying any irqs so the state machine is completely driven
from OTG xceiver events.

This can then be tested by userspace to see if the capability is supported.
Userspace cannot rely on that value being left in var_screen, since userspace
itself can change it.

Do not use memory bank info to request the "system ram" resources as
they do not track holes created by memblock_remove inside
machine's reserve callback. If the removed memory is passed as
platform_device's ioresource, then drivers that call
request_mem_region would fail due to a conflict with the incorrectly
configured system ram resource.
Instead, iterate through the regions of memblock.memory and add
those as "System RAM" resources.

Buggy drivers (e.g. fsl_udc) could call dma_pool_alloc from atomic
context with GFP_KERNEL. In most instances, the first pool_alloc_page
call would succeed and the sleeping functions would never be called. This
allowed the buggy drivers to slip through the cracks.
Add a might_sleep_if() checking for __GFP_WAIT in flags.

Forcing the alignment prevents gcc from generating byte reads for word
member variables. Lack of this caused issues when the app processor
modified struct members and the modem saw a partial word write.
