Rob Clark 0eca56f946 drm/imx: use drm_send_vblank_event() helper
Also, slightly changes the behavior to always put the vblank irq,
even if userspace did not request a vblank event. As far as I
can tell, the previous code would leak a vblank irq refcnt if
userspace requested a pageflip without event.

Rob Clark b6fa0cd62c dma-buf: might_sleep() in dma_buf_unmap_attachment()
We never really clarified if unmap could be done in atomic context.
But since mapping might require sleeping, this implies mutex in use
to synchronize mapping/unmapping, so unmap could sleep as well. Add
a might_sleep() to clarify this.

Rob Clark c6eefa1750 drm: add drm_send_vblank_event() helper (v5)
A helper that drivers can use to send vblank event after a pageflip.
If the driver doesn't support proper vblank irq based time/seqn then
just pass -1 for the pipe # to get do_gettimestamp() behavior (since
there are a lot of drivers that don't use drm_vblank_count_and_time())

Also an internal send_vblank_event() helper for the various other code
paths within drm_irq that also need to send vblank events.

v2: add back 'vblwait->reply.sequence = seq' which should not have
    been deleted
v3: add WARN_ON() in case lock is not held and comments
v4: use WARN_ON_SMP() instead to fix issue with !SMP && !DEBUG_SPINLOCK

Rob Clark b74af83dd2 drm/omap: fix issue w/ fb attached to multiple CRTCs
When the fb is detached from one CRTC/plane, paddr was set back to
zero. But really we don't want to do this because the fb could still
be attached to other CRTC/plane(s). This originally worked like this
to catch cases of freeing a pinned fb (but with the refcnt'ing this
should no longer be needed). Also, there is checking in the GEM code
for freeing a pinned GEM object, so this extra level of checking is
redundant.

Rob Clark 2216c9e74f drm: change ioctl permissions
Previously read-only KMS ioctls had some somewhat inconsistent settings
regarding whether mastership was required. For example, GETRESOURCES
did not require master, but GETPLANERESOURCES, GETPROPERTY, etc. did.

At least for debugging, it is nice to be able to use modetest to dump
property values while another process is master, and there seems to
be no harm in allowing read-only access to the KMS state to other
processes.

Rob Clark 7c80e12842 drm: support for rotated scanout
For drivers that can support rotated scanout, the extra parameter
checking in drm-core, while nice, tends to get confused. To solve
this drivers can set the crtc or plane invert_dimensions field so
that the dimension checking takes into account the rotation that
the driver is performing.

v1: original
v2: remove invert_dimensions from plane, at Ville's suggestion.

Rob Clark f7eff60ea0 drm: refcnt drm_framebuffer (v4.1)
This simplifies drm fb lifetime, and if the crtc/plane needs to hold
a ref to the fb when disabling a pipe until the next vblank, this
avoids the need to make disabling an overlay synchronous. This is a
problem that shows up when userspace is using a drm plane to
implement a hw cursor.. making overlay disable synchronous causes
a performance problem when x11 is rapidly enabling/disabling the
hw cursor. But not making it synchronous opens up a race condition
for crashing if userspace turns around and immediately deletes the
fb. Refcnt'ing the fb makes it possible to solve this problem.

v1: original
v2: add drm_framebuffer_remove() which is called in all paths where
fb->funcs->destroy() was directly called before. This cleans
up the CRTCs/planes that the fb was attached to. You should
only directly use drm_framebuffer_unreference() if you are also
using drm_framebuffer_reference() to keep a ref to the fb.
v3: add comment explaining the fb refcount
v4: remove duplicate 'list_del(&fb->filp_head)'

Rob Clark b06d66be3b drm: pass dev to drm_vm_{open,close}_locked()
Previously these functions would assume that vma->vm_file was the
drm_file. Although if in some cases if the drm driver needs to use
something else for the backing file (such as the tmpfs filp) then this
assumption is no longer true. But vma->vm_private_data is still the
GEM object.

With this change, now the drm_device comes from the GEM object rather
than the drm_file so the driver is more free to play with vma->vm_file.

The scenario where this comes up is for mmap'ing of cached dmabuf's
for non-coherent systems, where the driver needs to use fault handling
and PTE shootdown to simulate coherency. We can't use the vma->vm_file
of the dmabuf, which is using anon_inode's address_space. The most
straightforward thing to do is to use the GEM object's obj->filp for
vma->vm_file in all cases, for which we need this patch.

crashes around drm_mm_insert_helper_range(). (In the free-object path,
which is currently the only place we drm_gem_free_mmap_offset(),
struct_mutex is already held.)

Rob Clark 9a0774e099 staging: drm/omap: multiplanar and YUV support
Add support in framebuffer objects for other color formats and multi-
planar YUV (NV12). Since this requires changing the API between the
plane and fb for getting scanout information (paddr, etc), take
advantage of the opportunity and put in place a way to allow fb's to
be unpinned when they are not being scanned out. Now, before start
of scanout the plane calls omap_framebuffer_pin() which takes care
to pin all the backing bo's, then omap_framebuffer_update_scanout()
however many times to update the scanout address(es), etc, and then
when finished omap_framebuffer_unpin().

Because framebuffer layer and overlay scanout video pipes are basically
thing in OMAP display subsystem (the only difference being that the first
video pipe does not support scaling or YUV formats), much of the CRTC
code is pulled into the plane implementation, and a private plane object
is used by the CRTC object. This avoids code duplication between the
plane and CRTC.

In cases where the scanout hw is sufficiently similar between "overlay"

implementation, rather than duplicate code between the plane and crtc.

Rob Clark f7f9f4536a drm/omap: add GEM support for tiled/dmm buffers
TILER/DMM provides two features for omapdrm GEM objects:
1) providing a physically contiguous view to discontiguous memory
for hw initiators that cannot otherwise support discontiguous
buffers (DSS scanout, IVAHD video decode/encode, etc)
2) providing untiling for 2d tiled buffers, which are used in some
cases to provide rotation and reduce memory bandwidth for hw
initiators that tend to access data in 2d block patterns.

For 2d tiled buffers, there are some additional complications when
it comes to userspace mmap'ings. For non-tiled buffers, the original
(potentially physically discontiguous) pages are used to back the
mmap. For tiled buffers, we need to mmap via the tiler/dmm region to
provide an unswizzled view of the buffer. But (a) the buffer is not
necessarily pinned in TILER all the time (it can be unmapped when
there is no DMA access to the buffer), and (b) when they are they
are pinned, they not necessarily page aligned from the perspective of
the CPU. And non-page aligned userspace buffer mapping is evil.

To solve this, we reserve one or more small regions in each of the 2d
containers when the driver is loaded to use as a "user-GART" where we
can create a second page-aligned mapping of parts of the buffer being
accessed from userspace. Page faulting is used to evict and remap
different regions of whichever buffers are being accessed from user-
space.

Rob Clark cd5351f4d2 staging: add omapdrm DRM/KMS driver for TI OMAP platforms
A DRM display driver for TI OMAP platform. Similar to omapfb (fbdev)
and omap_vout (v4l2 display) drivers in the past, this driver uses the
DSS2 driver to access the display hardware, including support for
HDMI, DVI, and various types of LCD panels. And it implements GEM
support for buffer allocation (for KMS as well as offscreen buffers
used by the xf86-video-omap userspace xorg driver).

The driver maps CRTCs to overlays, encoders to overlay-managers, and
connectors to dssdev's. Note that this arrangement might change slightly
when support for drm_plane overlays is added.

For GEM support, non-scanout buffers are using the shmem backed pages
provided by GEM core (In drm_gem_object_init()). In the case of scanout
buffers, which need to be physically contiguous, those are allocated
with CMA and use drm_gem_private_object_init().

See userspace xorg driver:
