Jakub Jelinek 62c126db6b libstdc++: Implement C++26 P3378R2 - constexpr exception types 
The following patch attempts to implement the C++26 P3378R2 - constexpr
exception types paper.

This is quite complicated, because most of these classes which should
be constexpr-ized use solely or mostly out of line definitions in
libstdc++, both for historical, code size and dual ABI reasons, so that
one can throw these as exceptions between TUs with old vs. new (or vice
versa) ABIs.
For this reason, logic_error/runtime_error and classes derived from it
have the old ABI std::string object inside of them and the exported
APIs from libstdc++.so.6 ensure the right thing.

Now, because new invoked during constant evaluation needs to be deleted
during the same constant evaluation and can't leak into the constant
expressions, I think we don't have to use COW strings under the hood
(which aren't constexpr I guess because of reference counting/COW) and
we can use something else, the patch uses heap allocated std::string
object (where __cow_constexpr_string class has just a pointer to that).
As I think we still want to hide the ugly details if !consteval in the
library, the patch exports 8 __cow_string class symbols (6 existing which
were previously just not exported and 2 new ones) and if !consteval
calls those through extern "C" _Zmangled_name symbols.  The functions
are always_inline.

And then logic_error etc. have for C++26 (precisely for
__cpp_lib_constexpr_exceptions >= 202502L) constexpr definitions of
cdtors/methods.  This results in slightly larger code (a few insns at most)
at runtime for C++26, e.g. instead of calling say some logic error
cdtor/method with 2 arguments it calls some __cow_string one with 2
arguments but + 8 bytes pointer additions on both.

The patch also removes the __throw_format_error forward declaration
which apparently wasn't needed for anything as all __throw_format_error
users were either in <format> or included <format> before the uses,
reverts the

patch and makes sure __throw_* functions (only those for exception types
which the P3378R2 or P3068R5 papers made constexpr usable and there are
actually constexpr/consteval uses of those) are constexpr for C++26
constexpr exceptions.

The patch does that by splitting the bits/functexcept.h header:
1) bits/functexcept.h stays for the __throw_* functions which are (at
least for now) never constexpr (the <ios>, <system_error>, <future>
and <functional> std::exception derived classes) or are never used
or never used in constexpr/consteval contexts (<exception>, <typeinfo>
std::exception derived classes and std::range_error).
2) bits/new_{throw,except}.h for __throw_bad_alloc/__throw_bad_array_new_length
and std::bad_alloc/std::bad_array_new_length (where <new> includes
<bits/new_except.h> and <bits/new_throw.h> as well for the C++26 constexpr
exceptions case)
3) for the most complicated <stdexcept> stuff, one header
addition to bits/stdexcept.h one header for the __throw_logic_error etc.
forward declarations, one header for the __throw_logic_error etc.
definitions and one header without header guards which will
depending on __glibcxx_exc_in_string include one or the other because
<string> vs. <string_view> vs. <stdexcept> have heavy interdependencies

Jakub Jelinek 45ab93d9af non-gcc: Remove trailing whitespace 
I've tried to build stage3 with
-Wleading-whitespace=blanks -Wtrailing-whitespace=blank -Wno-error=leading-whitespace=blanks -Wno-error=trailing-whitespace=blank
added to STRICT_WARN and that expectably resulted in about
2744 unique trailing whitespace warnings and 124837 leading whitespace
warnings when excluding *.md files (which obviously is in big part a
generator issue).  Others from that are generator related, I think those
need to be solved later.

The following patch just fixes up the easy case (trailing whitespace),
which could be easily automated:

I've excluded files which I knew are obviously generated or go FE.

Jason Merrill 63a598deb0 libstdc++: #ifdef out #pragma GCC system_header 
In r15-3714-gd3a7302ec5985a I added -Wsystem-headers to the libstdc++ build
flags to help catch problems in the library.  This patch takes a different
approach, of disabling the #pragma system_header unless _GLIBCXX_SYSHDR is
defined.  As a result, the testsuites will treat them as non-system-headers
to get better warning coverage during regression testing of both gcc and
libstdc++, not just when building the library.

My rationale for the #ifdef instead of just removing the #pragma is the
three G++ tests that want to test libstdc++ system header behavior, so we
need a way to select it.

This doesn't affect installed libraries, as they get their
system-header status from the lookup path.  But testsuite_flags
--build-includes gives -I directives rather than -isystem.

This patch doesn't change the headers in config/ because I'm not compiling
with most of them, so won't see any warnings that need fixing.  Adjusting
them could happen later, or we can not bother.

Jonathan Wakely 23ef0f68ad libstdc++: Fix data race in std::basic_ios::fill() [PR77704] 
The lazy caching in std::basic_ios::fill() updates a mutable member
without synchronization, which can cause a data race if two threads both
call fill() on the same stream object when _M_fill_init is false.

To avoid this we can just cache the _M_fill member and set _M_fill_init
early in std::basic_ios::init, instead of doing it lazily. As explained
by the comment in init, there's a good reason for doing it lazily. When
char_type is neither char nor wchar_t, the locale might not have a
std::ctype<char_type> facet, so getting the fill character would throw
an exception. The current lazy init allows using unformatted I/O with
such a stream, because the fill character is never needed and so it
doesn't matter if the locale doesn't have a ctype<char_type> facet. We
can maintain this property by only setting the fill character in
std::basic_ios::init if the ctype facet is present at that time. If
fill() is called later and the fill character wasn't set by init, we can
get it from the stream's current locale at the point when fill() is
called (and not try to cache it without synchronization). If the stream
hasn't been imbued with a locale that includes the facet when we need
the fill() character, then throw bad_cast at that point.

This causes a change in behaviour for the following program:

  std::ostringstream out;
  out.imbue(loc);
  auto fill = out.fill();

Previously the fill character would have been set when fill() is called,
and so would have used the new locale. This commit changes it so that
the fill character is set on construction and isn't affected by the new
locale being imbued later. This new behaviour seems to be what the
standard requires, and matches MSVC.

The new 27_io/basic_ios/fill/char/fill.cc test verifies that it's still
possible to use a std::basic_ios without the ctype<char_type> facet
being present at construction.

Jonathan Wakely c62e945492 libstdc++: Enforce value_type consistency in strings and streams 
P1463R1 made it ill-formed for allocator-aware containers (including
std::basic_string) to use an allocator that has a different value_type
from the container itself. We already enforce that for other containers
(since r8-4828-g866e4d3853ccc0), but not for std::basic_string. We
traditionally accepted it as an extension and rebound the allocator, so
this change only adds the enforcement for C++20 and later.

Similarly, P1148R0 made it ill-formed for strings and streams to use a
traits type that has an incorrect char_type. We already enforce that for
std::basic_string_view, so we just need to add it to std::basic_ios and
std::basic_string.

The assertion for the allocator's value_type caused some testsuite
regressions:

The last two are testing the traditional extension that rebinds the
allocator, so need to be disabled for C++20.

The first two are similar to LWG 3076 where an incorrect constructor is
considered for CTAD. In this case, determining that it's not viable
requires instantiating std::basic_string<Iter, char_traits<Iter>, Alloc>
which then fails the new assertion, because Alloc::value_type is not the
same as Iter. This is only a problem because the size_type parameter of
the non-viable constructor is an alias for
_Alloc_traits_impl<A>::size_type which is a nested type, and so the
enclosing basic_string specialization needs to be instantiated. If we
remove the _Alloc_traits_impl wrapper that was added in
r12-5413-g2d76292bd6719d, then the definition of size_type no longer
depends on basic_string, and we don't instantiate an invalid
specialization and don't fail the assertion. The work done by
_Alloc_traits_impl::allocate can be done in a _S_allocate function
instead, which is probably more efficient to compile anyway.
